A DEDICATION TO MOTHERS-From my second book of poetry(POETIC VERSES)

It was not so long ago,
that you nurtured me, walked
with me and held my hand.

I was little then

You walked and talked with me,
and told me biblical stories of
creation and how it all begin.

As I grew older you would
still walk and talk with me, but
about dreams of a larger plan.

I was  getting older then

And then! Your teaching increased, you
became more aggressive, you were molding me
into what you thought I should be as a man.

I am grateful for having an Angelic MOTHER
who was patient with me, and
kept me safe.

I am older now

I now understand why you walked
with me and had those talks under
that Oak tree.

Now that God in his infinite wisdom
has called you home, I know your
earthly work is done.

I cherish the precious time that
he allowed you to  spend with
your son.

HAPPY MOTHER'S  DAY

Life's Most Unusual Wonders

Walking in the shadows of some one
else dreams, will eventually leave
scars that one dare not remember.

It compels one to create a false
reflection of oneself, based on
another person criteria for life.

What develops is a group of life's
wonders that allows you to believe that you
have made inroads in avoiding life's cross roads.

They become more unusual as life
goes on, they become unrecognizable,
thereby becoming more acceptable behavior.

The shadows of that person's dreams
becomes the norm, destroying any possibility
of you reaching  your true potential.

So let us not get caught up in the reflections
of another.  Admiration and appreciation
is certainly worthy of one's achievements.

But spend your energy in discovering
the wonders within you.  Only then will
you be able to influence your future.

The other road is just a duplication, giving
the other person a free ride.

WHILE WALKING

The disparity among the city
dwellers were obvious as I walked
along the corridors of bright and
dimmed lights.

The different levels and styles of
music were distinct.  Conversations
ran its course from university masters
to street doctorates.

The level of dress were a mixture
of  high class hookers, college kids,
the hip and the heavy, those in the know.
eagle to show brand names, self styles
and body culture.

There rides were message senders,
sleek and daring. They were expensive
and style setting. Daring colors, trend
setting, meant to catch the eye.

There were no signs of racial division
along these corridors.  All different ethnic
groups were holding hands, talking, laughing
and dancing to the beat of soul music.

Drinking the sames drinks, sometimes
drinking out of the same glass. eating the
same foods, doing the same drugs.  All
wanting to belong to this community of souls.

This is a different generation, trying to forget
the history that haunts them. They are willing to
sacrifice their future for one moment in time.

In a different part of the city, the lights were few,
sad music played, mostly blues. Very few cars
were on the streets, people competing against
the rodents for food.

Dwellings that were once filled with laughter,
are now filled  with children and unwed
mothers, apartments are scarcely furnished,
very little food or clothing.

The pimps, drug pushers on every corner,
draining from the community the life that is
left.  Taking the innocence from the mother's
daughters, age don't seem to matter, replacing
hope with dope.

In a different part of the city the lights were
bright on every corner, at the end of every
driveway and doorway  of it's camouflage
private clubs and majestic homes.

They were seeking to separate themselves
from the corridors of the youth, the so called
trends setters, the poor and underpriviledge.

They played their music from sound proof
rooms, smoked their long pipes from ventilated
closets, tasted their pure cocaine, dranked
their imported beverages.

They exchanged sexual favors for political
positions in church and state..they makes
decisions that are destructive to the structure
of the community and its people.

This corridor of bright lights, perfectly paved
streets were totally silent from the streets. You
could hear no children crying, no pimps or
drugs were present.

No music was audible, but you could still
sense the  pain.

THE MAIN INGREDIENTS

The application of salt and pepper
and other delectable spices added
to the food of your choice, would
satisfy your taste buds. To consider
the application of spiritual enlightenment
for your soul are thoughts you refuse
to entertain.

And yet you call yourselves Christians.

By who's authority do we claim these
earthly cravings.  Who is the grower
of these earthly seeds that spread
through out our being, that entices
our carnal sides?  Why are the
ingredients of darkness so deeply
imbedded in our being, when we
were created from the light.

And yet we call ourselves Christians.

Why are we so comfortable at the table
of indecisiveness?  Why are we so enthralled
with the devil's servers at the devil's banquet?
Blinded by the devil's enticing glitter rapped
in high heel shoes, short skirts and bling.

Or could it be the pointed toe shoes, three
piece suits and the sharp tongues that appears
to be trained in the Biblical truths.  Why not
try coming to a banquet of Praise and Worship
where Jesus is Lord.

But to do that you would  have to read
the Biblical menu to acquire the cooking
skills in order to prepare yourself for
God's banquet, if your intentions are focus
on being a participant instead of a spectator.
